So what exactly sets apart those brands that people just can't stop talking about? How do some artists manage to build such passionate followings while others with equal talent remain undiscovered? It's not random luck or just being in the right place at the right time—there's actually a formula to creating an unforgettable brand that gets noticed, remembered, and enthusiastically shared.
In my mind, there are six things that make an unforgettable brand:
It needs to stand out from the crowd using your unique selling points and capture people's attention so that they know about your brand in the first place.
It can't just be something flashy that looks good. It has to have some oomph, some power, some heart behind it, and some creativity that makes it memorable so that people know what YOU stand for.
A brand that is consistently showing up, is active, and can be seen often in different places so that people are reminded of them and they are always top of mind.
It needs to connect with their audience and build a community in a way that makes people feel like they are part of something. It feels like a community, not just a one-way conversation.
It needs to be easily recommendable and easy to understand what you do, what you are passionate about, and who you are, so people can recommend you to EVERYONE!
It creates a sense of belonging and FOMO (fear of missing out) that makes people want to be part of something special.
Knowing what makes a brand unforgettable is one thing, but actually building one for yourself is where the real magic happens. I've broken this down into a simple process that any artist can follow, regardless of where you're starting from or what creative field you're in. Each step builds on the one before it, creating a solid foundation for your transformation from undiscovered to unforgettable!
Creating an unforgettable brand comes down to three main steps:
Figure out what is unique about you and decide what it is that you want to be known for so that you can make it memorable, clear and engaging for your audience.
They want to know who you are, what you’re passionate about, what art you make and what makes you different. Why do they want to follow you, stick around and buy your work? So we want to find clarity.
Go back and listen to episode 137 where we talked about how to uncover your YOU-SPs—those are your unique selling points and how to infuse all of that through your business, your marketing, your content… basically, anywhere and EVERYWHERE.
Here’s how you find clarity:
When you have clarity, your audience will understand why they should follow you, support you, and buy your stuff (all of those good things!).
Start creating brand-building content that introduces people to your brand. Tell them about who you are and what art you make on a regular basis so that you are starting to create that community of people who love your work, are engaging with your brand, and supporting your work.
You can get super creative with other marketing strategies as well. So not necessarily just social media content, but also email marketing, events or print marketing. Try anything and everything that feels good to you and makes sense for your brand.

And then last but not least, is community. So you want to connect with your audience and invite them to engage with you. Then, encourage and celebrate that engagement. This is a biggie and what can set you apart from many other brands out there.
All of the cult status brands that you know, not just artists, they often communicate with their audience. They're asking them questions, they're doing polls, they are sharing their content. By reposting, they’re saying "Hey, we love having you as part of the community. We want to share that and celebrate you and create this engagement as a community!."
So whatever you can do to do that, to engage with your audience, ask questions, get them involved in the process, invite them to engage with you, and then encourage and celebrate that engagement, the better.
Some steps to build your community:
All the cult-status brands you know are communicating with their audience and making them feel part of something special. The more you can do this, the stronger your community will become.
When you combine these six elements with the three-step framework, magic starts to happen. You're no longer just another talented artist lost in the crowd—you become a creator with a distinctive voice that naturally attracts your perfect audience.
Remember, becoming unforgettable doesn't happen overnight, but it absolutely can happen for you. The difference between artists who remain undiscovered and those who build passionate fan bases isn't raw talent—it's strategic branding. It's about consciously shaping how you present yourself and your work to the world.
By finding clarity on what makes you unique, getting creative with how you share your work, and intentionally building community around your brand, you're setting yourself up for the recognition and success your incredible art deserves.
